On Assignment(Themes)

This assignment was overwhelming but quite an experience at the same time. We were given about 2 weeks to shoot images based on 5 themes, with one theme being revealed every three days. It was quite a different experience to try and capture images that related or reflected the theme I was given. It helped me stay focussed and see things from a different perspective. For instance, the theme “Conflict” could be a physical conflict, a psychological one, or even just different things that did not belong together.

Reflected

This image is of one of my friends taking a photo of her reflection. I cropped out most of the image leaving only her and her reflection, then I flipped it around creating an illusion of her reflection taking a picture of her.

Leave

The images I took throughout this assignment were quite different, such as this image of leaves on a tree. It was unique from the other images because of its colour and focus on one particular set of leaves out of the hundreds that were on the tree. I feel that my photography has began to focus on the principles of design more and also have had more of a focus on the subject of the image. I have also started to edit and experiment with filters on my images to create unique and aesthetically pleasing images.

  1. I really thought your first picture was really interesting because of the reflection. The reflection off the water seemed really clear and i also liked your editing in that photo. Your second photo i also like because the of the lighting and i thought it was really creative with the editing because it gives it a really chilly feeling since autumn was coming

    • I was experimenting with a lot of filters during this assignment, glad you liked it. Now that you mentioned it, it does emit a feeling of the autumn calmness. Thanks alot Vince!!

  2. Wow the first image is really striking it kind of makes you go “wow”, then you start to notice the little details like the fact that you flipped it. I think flipping it makes it really interesting and cool. :) The second one is really delicate and pretty and I liked the editing and filters you used on it to give it that purple-y look.
